Following Spivak

I don't know how many times I turned to Spivak's 1988 seminal text "Can the Subaltern Speak?"
Now, I'm reading Spivak (2006) to enter more deeply in her though.

Gayatri speaks about a distinction between a proxy and a portrait and brings up the german words Vertretung and  Darstellung

I found a similar use of this comparison about Inqui and "art vandals": "Many of the art vandals that Inqui invokes strike out at canonical representations because they feel that those representations (in the sense of Darstellung) are unfairly serving or standing for restricted and privileged constituencies (in the sense of Vertretung)."
The mathaphorics of the portrait and the proxy...

MacCabe (2006), in the Foreword, writes that "illumination is a necessarily transitory and conjunctural moment".

I found a very useful examination of the Spivak's essay: "On Spivak's essay 'Can the Subaltern Speak?'" by Dr. Mrinalini Sebastian - 1" - https://youtu.be/OpYzO6VnLfw
And Spivak by herself, in BBRG PRESENTS: Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak on Situating Feminism:

Comparative Cultural Studies

Comparative studies based on qualitative research can be seen as to be haunted by the gaze that has not been returned.
